Will Writing Companies

I seem to be receiving more and more complaints about will writing companies from members of the public. The complaints generally involve members of the public feeling that the have been overcharged for the storage of wills, sold insurance that they do not need and being treated to a hard sell approach by these companies. Many clients also contact me to ask for advice when they find out the will writing company that prepared their will five or ten years ago are no longer trading and they have no idea where their original will is.

It is perhaps understandable that in these difficult economic times people would rather pay a will writing company £30.00 to prepare a will rather than paying slightly more to a solicitor to prepare one. However whilst using a will writing company may seem like the cheap option once all of the costs that they charge for storage and "add on" services are added together they can end up being far more expensive than a local high street solicitor.

Has anyone else received complaints about will writing companies or experienced problems using their services?
