The Law Society of Scotland has voted to reject the proposed opening of legal Services to Alternative Business Structures. Is this a sign that lawyers are at last standing up for themselves and not allowing everyone else to sweep in and take away their business. If it is then is it a sensible move? Certainly many City firms see it as an inevitability and are taking steps to work with potential funders or owners. Should we not be embracing the change rather than fighting against it only to find ourselves left behind once again when it becomes reality?
