Squatters

The Ministry of Justice has issued guidance for homeowners whose homes have been occupied by squatters.

The government has also stated that it will take steps in 2012 to make squatting a criminal offence.

Currently, squatting is not a criminal offence in England and Wales. Property owners must use the civil courts to enforce their rights, which can be a lengthy and expensive process. In Scotland, squatting is a criminal offence and if found guilty, the criminal could face a fine or imprisonment.

the problems we have with these squatters

the problems we have with these squatters may have something to do with our present economic crisis where many people faces foreclosure property problems. Because of these there is an increase in cases of home loan fraud which is very much alarming. I even read in article saying that the FBI is currently warning consumers and businesses alike about the growing mortgage scams epidemic in the nation. The greatest threat is from fraudulent home loan applications. The Federal bureau of investigation is also warning troubled homeowners to be especially vigilant. They're becoming more vulnerable to modification and foreclosure prevention schemes. Resource for this article: FBI states cases of mortgage scams skyrocketing

I hope squatting does become

I hope squatting does become an illegal offence because I have seen people forced out of their own home by squatters when it is not their home to take.

Notice To Quit

A notice to quit doesn't work with squatters. You have three options, two legal options and the third is illegal. Evicting squatters using the quick procedure is one option another is to use the normal tenant eviction process or final to break the law grab them from the hand and throw them. Don't do the last option because you will find yourself in a big problem. http://uk.tenant-eviction.com/eviction/squatter-eviction.php
