Rent Arrears

I am a tenant who has occupied a property for the last 2 years.    I recently lost my job and have been unable to pay any rent to the  Landlord.   i have now found a new job and have offered to start paying my landlord his rent together with an extra £100.00 per month to clear the arrears.  he has said this is unacceptable and has said i have to vacate the property by the end of the month.  can he do this?

A landlord cannot evict a tenant from a residential property without a court order.

If he does so he would be guilty of a crime.

I do not know the nature of your agreement with the landlord - whether it is a written agreement for a fixed term  and whether that term has expired.

I would need to have that information.

I could then tell you what options the landlord has.
