Outright Gift

Over five years ago, my mother 'gifted' me the sum of £180,000 outright, unconditionally and confidentially. I have a signed and dated statement as proof of this. She died in January this year.

I understand that I am required to declare this 'gift'. The tax threshold on her estate should be £750,000 since she left the house to me in her will. Her estate should not exceed this threshold, so there should be no inheritance tax to pay.

My brother and sister have been provisioned for in my mother's will. Need this 'gift' be disclosed to them?

It was not part of the will

and not part of the estate at death. No

Is it likley or neccessary

Is it likley or neccessary that this 'gift' will appear on the final account of my mother's estate

It isn't part of the estate

it predates it by 5 years.
