Nightshift work

Hi, I have worked for an engineering company for 45 years. The last 20 years on dayshift. A new manager was recently installed and he now wants to change all the shift patterns for the factory which includes me having to start doing nightshift. I am 61 years of age and my question is can I be forced to work nightshift at my age.

Thanks

My contract does say to work

My contract does say to work shifts as required. What I am trying to find out is within employment law is there a maximum age at which an employee can be compelled to work nightshift?

Thanks
