Medico-legal Forum

Hello Everyone

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist who has been in NHS and private practice for the last 30 years.  During this time I have had the privilege of jointly working with solicitors on  numerous occasions in relation to common 'clients', usually to provide an expert opinion or medico-legal psychiatric reports.

In my experience there can sometimes be limited understanding on the part of both professional groups of the demands, challenges and deadlines of each others working lives, which may result in unnecessary delays and on occasion even misunderstandings.

Given the inevitability of these two professions of having to work together, I think a forum such as this, provides an excellent opportunity of building professional understanding and bridges and possibly even evolving into a Medico-legal discussion/educational forum where professional colleagues could learn from each other's experiences.  If this is a view/experience shared by other professional colleagues, then I wonder whether it may actually be worth considering creating another forum specifically for medico-legal colleagues.  

Is there a role for setting up a Medico-legal forum and is such a forum likely to be well supported? I would be most interested in hearing the views of colleagues from the legal profession.
