The Mail encourages Compensation claim?

The tragic case of a 15 year old cheerleader was reported in "The Mail" last week. Shannon Corr underwent an above knee amputation of her right leg after a cancer was discovered in her knee.

Whilst this is undoubtedly tragic it is perhaps not so unusual of itself to ordinarily make the headlines. It did however become a story because Shannon had been to her GPs on four seperate occasions where she was told she simply had growing pains. It is not clear from the article whether an earlier diagnosis would have meant a better outcome for Shannon, but the clear implication is that the newspaper is criticising the failure to diagnose by her GP. Otherwise there is not a story.

One would be forgiven for believing that "The Mail" is set against the Apparent compensation culture and yet one wonders what it seeks to do with this article. Does it,heaven forbid, thinks that this young Cheerleader might deserve some compensation if the correct diagnosis might have saved her leg?
