dispute with garage

brought a used car on 14 october from a main dealer.broke down had to be towed back to garage on saturday.dispite phoning several times, the garage will not return my calls  what can i do?

Under the Sale of Goods Act

Under the Sale of Goods Act the garage was under a duty to sell you a vehicle which was fit for purpose and of merchantable quality.

If your car has broken down after a few days I would say that the garage is in breach of it's duties.

If the garage is ignoring you you should obtain an estimate as to the cost of repairs.

You should then write to the garage asking them to deal with the repairs.

In the same letter you would point out that if no response is received within 7 days you intend to get the work done yourself in accordance with the estimate. You would then sue for that amount.

In your letter you would also give the garage an opportunity to inspect the vehicle themselves within the 7 days referred to above.
