Data Harvester

Hello there. This is quite long, but I'd be so grateful if somebody could help me out. A website called The Profile Engine scans Facebook and many other sources en masse to harvest information. The website's owner—a New Zealand citizen from Auckland—is called Chris Claydon, and I believe he is a seller of harvested information as he owns other sites that presumably have similar purposes.

My problem is the blackmail he enforces, and I believe this is for personal gain, and is possibly a legal grey area or an actual violation of privacy laws. In my case, around a year ago I made major changes to my Facebook profile because I wanted to protect my privacy, since I had some people trying to personally attack me online. Thus, I changed my real name on Facebook, my username, and many other details. However, The Profile Engine had still kept my old data that it had indexed, and now when people search for my new Facebook name, they'll find my real name through Google, thanks to this website.

Despite keeping my old data indexed, the website still continues to harvest my new data too. (I do keep most of my Facebook profile private, by the way.) I politely got in touch with Chris, explaining my situation and requesting a removal of my data. His reply was very blunt and rude, simply saying that the only way I could do this (delete my data from The Profile Engine) was to connect my Facebook account to the website. Can you see where this is going? Connecting my account to the site would mean giving Chris access to a lot more of my data, and the full ability to even post spam on Facebook using my identity. Instead of being polite, candid and understanding, he gave me an ultimatum. And quite frankly, I was very dissatisfied and didn't go through with it.

Fast-forward a few months, quite close to today. I got so frustrated I ended up connecting due to his claim that doing so would allow me to wipe the data. Not only did that allow his site to harvest more data, but also this also resulted in the website spamming a couple of my friends. Worst of all, the Facebook feature to claim my profile and thus delete it from the site was completely broken. I e-mailed Chris about this. He gave me a practically automated reply telling me to post the specifics in the feedback section of the website. I visited the feedback section, and people have been complaining for a long time about a lot of features on the site being unusable. Chris hasn't replied to any complaints for months. He won't reply to me anymore. I've been blackmailed into giving his company more of my data on the prospect of a resolution.

My question is: do I have a case? I know this isn't too common, and the fact this is international makes it more difficult for me. I'm sure that if New Zealand has similar data acts to England's, there must be something very shady about his actions. I've done everything I can on my own.
