Criminal Damage

A friend of mine (non tenant) damaged the exterior of my rented house (4 tenants, all friends, pay towards the cost per month) after a night out to try to gain entry because the door was locked and no one was home. The landlord wants to prosecute tenants for criminal damage and involve universitys etc what's my legal standing on this? What am I liable for and what could happen? Thanks

How much

would it cost to repair?

You've no criminal liability

You've no criminal liability if you were not involved.

And if you did not give permission for him to do so - you've no civil liability either.

And the landlord is talking nonsense.
