Children and the matrimonial process

Michcon De Reya’s survey showing that parents use their children as weapons of war in divorce proceedings certainly has a ring of truth about it.
This is the reason I ceased practising in this field. I remember one bitter contact case in particular. Endless interim applications - welfare reports - psychiatric reports – psychologist reports etc etc – huddles at the court door.
Where did it get anyone? What was the effect on the children of this? Who knows?
I came to the conclusion that I wanted no further part in this and have never taken on a similar case since.
Was I wrong?
Can lawyers make a difference?
