Child left taps running in Holiday let

We holidayed with a group of friends. Their 9yo boy left the taps running in a sink as we were about to leave.  The water flooded the house and caused £3k worth of damage.

Theome was booked though cottages4u (Hoseasons, ABTA agency). Insurance was included.

We have just been informed that this type of damage is not covered by the insrance policy.

Surely any decent homes damage policy would cover accidental flooding caused by a child leaving taps running.
