Builder Dispute
In April 2008 a builder started work on an extension to create extra bedrooms at a care home. The work was due to finish in March 2009. In March the builder left site and the work was incomplete. At the time my friend wrote to the builder asking him to finish the extension and explained that is they could not come to an agreement they will have to go down the legal route. Our client received a letter from the builders solicitors in December 2009 and it seems that the builder is trying to sue for non payment. Our client has advised that the builder has been paid for the work that has been done, however the builder is claiming that he is owed £30,000. The bill has been settled, with evidence. Our client has instructed a Solicitors to deal with the dispute, however is looking for some 'after the event' insurance and cover for any future legal issues that may arise. They do not want to deal with any other solicitor.
Does anyone know anyone to provide a quotation in this instance?

If your friends Solicitor
If your friends Solicitor does not know any legal expenses insurance providers then he might try a broker. I have previously used a broker who has found insurance often in unusual cases. He does not charge as he is paid a commission by the Insurance company. If you email me direct rparemain@s-law.co.uk I can provide his contact details. Alternatively he might try "The Judge" who are also brokers and have access to most of the market leaders although they generally charge a brokerage fee, they can be found at www.thejudge.co.uk
This is on the basis that your friend does not already have a legal expenses policy. He should check all of his insurance policies, car, household buildings and contents credit cards or bank accounts to see if insurance is available.Legal expenses insurance is commonly found in those policies without us realising its there. He should give his solicitor his insurance details so he might check for any policies for him. The cheapest and easiest way to get this insurance in the future is with a household policy.
